As one of the most powerful couples in today’s entertainment industry, being constantly placed under the spotlight and having to deal with demanding work schedules can easily put one’s relationship under strain. Luckily, I am a current student in an Interpersonal Communications and Relationships course and can give you some insight on how to make your marriage last. In this letter, I will define and explain seven of the characteristics of enduring relationships and seven relational contradictions in addition to providing relevant examples to your situation. The closer your relationship, the more likely you are to self-disclose personal secrets to your partner. Though Kim lives a fairly public life as the star of her family’s reality television show, ways to increase revelation in your relationship include the following: revealing less to the public as prominent public figures – whether it be in an interview with Rolling Stone or on an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians, keeping your privacy to a minimum with the public can increase revelation between your relationship since personal matters will be considered of more value. Anxiety reduction is the dependence one has on their partner to be there for them during difficult times. Whether it be watching a scary movie or going through the death of a loved one, having a partner that is dependable can reduce anxiety significantly. Since you each have a parent that has passed, being able to depend on each other for support and comfort is an example of anxiety reduction. Intimacy is the process by which a couple becomes more private and personal with each other. This can either be categorized by physical, mundane, or emotional intimacy. Ways to improve these levels of intimacy in your relationship include showing a more public display of affection or by doing unexpected things for each other such as making Kanye a personal mixtape or by writing Kim a song.
